- Dumbarton Grain Distillery was built in the namesake town by Hiram Walker & Sons in 1938, soon after the Canadian company acquired the Ballantine brand (1935) and Glenburgie and Miltoduff malt distilleries (1936).

Dumbarton Distillery was built in 1938 by Hiram Walker & Sons, which purchased the Ballantine's brand in 1935 and soon after the Glenburgie and Miltonduff distilleries.
The distillery was equipped with American stainless steel stills and its main grain feed was corn. Allied Lyons took over Hiram Walker & Sons in 1987 and kept production at Dumbarton for 15 years. The distillery site is now a housing estate. The whisky presented here, distilled in November 2000, spent two decades in bourbon cask no. 211097. Bottled in 2021 at cask strength (56.5% abv) by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. in their popular Cooper's Choice series in an edition of 234 bottles.
Nose : vanilla, caramel, buttered popcorn, cappuccino, candied citrus peels, cinnamon, a pinch of white pepper, notes of potpourri and oak.
Palate: vanilla cream, cornflakes, coconut flakes, butter cookies, peaches, canned pineapple, notes of cinnamon and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of popcorn, vanilla, citrus, white chocolate, cinnamon and oak.
