Product description
Burghead Maltings Co. was built by Scottish Malt Distillers (a subsidiary of DCL) in 1966 and commenced operation a year later.
Just four years later, the number of drums had been doubled from 24 to 48, making the maltings one of the largest in Europe. Today, the facility is owned by Diageo and operated in conjunction with Roseisle Maltings. Burghead Maltings is based in Elgin, Morayshire, close to Diageo’s Linkwood Distillery. In 1991, the distillery released a special edition to celebrate 25 years of Burghead Maltings. Originally, the maltings were not intended for sale, but rather as gifts for the maltings’ employees.
