The Transcontinental Rum Line (TCRL for short) is a line of rums bottled by a French distributor specializing mainly in whisky, but also offering other spirits, including rum.
La Maison du Whisky, because that's what we're talking about, offers short, limited editions of rums from Caribbean rum factories. These are often editions from a single barrel. Their common feature is the fact that they are matured twice - first in the tropical conditions of the place of production, after which the rum is brought to Europe for the final stage of maturation. Transcontinental Rum Line debuted in 2016.
Transcontinental Rum Line Guyana 2002 is a rum from the Enmore Distillery in Guyana. It is a traditional, molasses-based rum, distilled in a Coffey wooden column still. It matured for a total of 18 years in a single American bourbon oak barrel, of which only for a month in the tropical climate of Guyana, before being brought to Europe for 18 years. Bottled in 2021 in a limited edition of 250 bottles.
Aroma: Fresh and fruity, notes of apples, pears, dried apricots, honey, anise and oak.
Palate : Apples, baked apples, oak, black tea, herbal notes, spices, black pepper.
Finish : Long, dry, herbal notes and slight bitterness.
