Ukiyo Blossom Gin is produced in Kagoshima, in the shadow of Sakurajima volcano, by Ukiyo Spirits (the company also produces Rice Vodka).
The term “Ukiyo” refers to a state of mind emphasizing living in the moment, detached from the difficulties of life. The base spirit is shochu distilled from local rice and barley, and the main botanicals are juniper berries, coriander seeds, regional citrus such as yuzu, tangerine peel, sakura flowers (cherry blossom) and various spices. The cherry blossom season is called “Hanami” and is hugely celebrated period in Japan. The botanicals are macerated in shochu spirit, then re-distilled.
Ukiyo Blossom Gin is very delicate and elegant gin, with notes of juniper, citrus, Parma violets, hints of coriander and oriental spices. We recommend trying it neat or with premium light tonic garnished with a slice of orange.
