The vast majority of whisky producers, including of course independent publishers, celebrated the new millennium with commemorative limited editions.
As a rule, these were quite expensive editions of old whiskies offered in a rich presentation. Signatory Vintage did not quite follow a similar path, preparing editions of both old and relatively young whiskies, in both cases coming from carefully selected casks. One of the older ones was the Glenburgie presented here - distilled on 23 October 1967 and aged in sherry cask no. 11158 for over three decades. The Millennium Edition hit the market in August 1999 in an edition of just 150 bottles.
Nose : old sherry, waxed paper, pine resin, caramel, honey, coffee beans, hazelnuts, raisins, black pepper, nutmeg, notes of furniture polish and oak.
Palate : waxy, buckwheat honey, toffee, caramel, roasted almonds, chocolate-covered cherries, raisins and sultanas, dried figs, a pinch of black pepper and sherry-soaked oak.
Finish: very long, with notes of sherry, raisins, Christmas gingerbread, mixed nuts and almonds, a touch of leather and oak.
