Premier Barrel Selection from the Douglas Laing & Co. portfolio is one of the most impressively packaged whisky lines.
It is released in old-fashioned stoneware decanters, always accompanied by a short stanza referring to the specific whisky and expressed using alliteration. All whiskies in the Premier Barrel series are bottled with a natural colour and without chill filtration and at 46% abv. The Benrinnes 10 years old presented here is a single cask edition limited to 303 bottles (or rather stoneware). Diageo's Benrinnes Distillery is based in Speyside and equipped with 6 stills produces 3.5 million litres of distillate per year, almost all of which goes into the company's blends.
Nose : strongly fruity, apricots, pears, oranges, kiwi, vanilla, toffee, buttered toast, cappuccino, cinnamon, notes of potpourri and toasted oak.
Palate : honey, vanilla pudding, caramel popcorn, apricots, greengages, pink grapefruit, cantaloupe, a hint of cinnamon and cloves.
Finish: medium long, with notes of fruit salad, vanilla, caramel, toffee, cinnamon and toasted oak.
