Silver Seal Whisky Company, an Italian company operating since 2000, is considered the successor to the legendary Sestante, established in 1979.
Massimo Righi acquired the rights to both brands in 2010, as he admits, after a two-year stockpile of whiskey. In recent years, there has been a lot of activity in the Silver Seal offer, and the excellent selection of casks has earned the company an excellent reputation. Highland Park 13 years old (distilled 19944) is a single cask edition limited to 367 bottles. The whiskey comes from cask no. 35 and is offered at 46% abv and without cold filtration. Highland Park Distillery is located in Orkney and equipped with two pairs of stills produces 2.5 million liters of distillate per year. Global sales of the brand (2019) exceed 2.2 million bottles.
Aroma : fruity and herbal, slightly smoky, nectarines, oranges, honeydew melon, milk chocolate, honey, almonds, a mixture of dried herbs, notes of potpourri and oak.
Palate : slightly waxy, honey, toffee, cocoa, oranges, grapefruit, lemon jam, sugared almonds, allspice, notes of pepper, tobacco and smoke in the background.
Finish : quite long, with notes of honey, citrus peel, roasted nuts and almonds, a herbal mix, oak and peat smoke.
