From 1994 to 2006 Bowmore Distillery released 13 bottlings of 8 years old single malt as part of so called ‘Bowmore Legend’ range.
Here we have the 6th edition bottled in 1999 for the Italian market, also called ‘Millennium Edition’ dedicated to the legend of a Princess Giant. The King of Giants warned his daughter Yula (or Iula) not to go over the sea. Regardless her father warning the beautiful princess went down to the beach and collected some large rocks to use a stepping stones. She placed them one by one in front of her into the sea. Exhausted from a long walk she reached the shores of an island but her footsteps sunk in the soft sands and the sea washed her away. The island she discovered (Islay) has been named to her honor to this day. The whisky is presented in a metal tin featuring beautiful princess.
Nose: coastal, sea breeze, seaweed salad, wet rocks and sand, peat smoke, malted barley, vanilla, red berries, hints of caraway and mint.
Palate: smoky, slightly grassy, seaweed salad, toffee, caramel, lemon peel, salted nuts, red currants and fresh oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of peat smoke, sea breeze, mixed herbs, caramel and oak.
