Product description
Moon Import was founded in 1980 in Genoa by Pepi Mongiardino and quickly became famous as an importer and distributor of high-quality wines and spirits.
Following the suggestion of the legendary Silvano Samaroli († 2017), Mongiardino avoided collaboration with industry giants and focused on bottling single barrels of whisky, usually purchased from private owners. Inspired by old engravings from an 18th-century German encyclopedia, Mongiardino often created the graphic designs for his whisky editions himself. The Caol Ila 1977 presented here spent over 15 years in two hogshead barrels (no. 4659 and 4660). Bottled in 1993 in the “The Sails in the Wind” series, in an edition of 708 bottles.
