- The Connoisseurs Choice range was created by whisky visionary George Urquhart, second generation of the family that still owns Gordon & MacPhail.
Product description
The Connoisseurs Choice series is the brainchild of George Urquhart, a second-generation member of the family who owned Gordon & MacPhail and a great whisky visionary.
Since 1968, the series has featured nearly 100 distilleries, presenting over 2,000 editions. In 2018, the company redesigned Connoisseurs Choice to give it a more contemporary, elegant look and also included cask strength and wood finishes. The Highland Park Batch #21/009 presented here, distilled in 1988, spent over three decades in a refill hogshead cask #1284 (American oak), and was bottled at cask strength (52.8% abv) on December 16, 2020 in an edition of 207 bottles. (Producer's note.)
Nose: Crystallized violets and soft coconut pave the way for dry cold cuts; white chocolate and the dying embers of a summer campfire soon take over.
Palate: sweet and mild notes of red apple and biscuits, followed by the rich sweetness of vanilla, dried banana slices and citrus peel.
Finish : medium long, fruity sweetness wrapped in peat smoke.
