Product description
The Connoisseurs Choice series is the brainchild of George Urquhart, a second-generation member of the family who owned Gordon & MacPhail and a great whisky visionary.
Since 1968, the series has featured nearly 100 distilleries, presenting over 2,000 editions. In 2018, the company redesigned Connoisseurs Choice with a more contemporary, elegant look and added cask strength and wood finishes. This Strathisla Batch #21/002, distilled in 1987, spent over three decades in a refill hogshead cask #3052 (American oak), and was bottled at cask strength (55.4% abv) on January 26, 2021, in an edition of just 121 bottles. (Producer’s note.)
Nose : stewed pears and bananas combined with lemon cheesecake; followed by vanilla pods, notes of milk chocolate and coconut.
Palate : Initial notes of orange peel and honey are soon replaced by cocoa powder; followed by grapefruit accompanied by lemon peel and freshly ground black pepper.
Finish: medium long, with a returning sweetness of fruit interwoven with a light spiciness of spices and a hint of oak bitterness.
