- Tamdhu Distillery is located in Knockando, Speyside. Throughout the 20th Century the distillery was part of The Highland Distilleries Company (later the Edrington Group) and supplied malt to various blended whiskies, mainly Cutty Sark and Famous Grouse.

Tamdhu Distillery is based in Knockando, Speyside.
Built in 1897, throughout the 20th century it was owned by Highland Distillers (later Edrington Group) and worked mainly for the Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark blends. Since 2011 it has been owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, owner of the Glengoyne distillery, and equipped with three pairs of stills produces around 3 million litres of distillate per year using 75% of its capacity. The whisky presented here was distilled in March 2004 and spent 16 years in a refilled sherry butt no. DL 14411. Bottled at 48.4% abv and without chill filtration by Douglas Laing & Co. in the popular Old Particular series in October 2020 in an edition of 343 bottles.
Nose : oranges, nectarines, cherries, dark chocolate, caramel, roasted almonds, candied ginger, notes of tobacco, leather and toasted oak.
Palate: plums, raisins and sultanas, black cherries, orange peel, banana cake, crème brûlée, ginger, a pinch of cinnamon, traces of leather and oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of caramel, dark chocolate, cherries, plums, roasted nuts and almonds, ginger and oak.
