Product description
In spring 2021, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers introduced the Mac-Talla mini-series.
Previously Morrison & Mackay, the company is now owned by Brian and Jamie Morrison (father and son), whose family has been involved in whisky for five generations (Stanley Morrison, Brian’s father, bought Bowmore Distillery in 1963 to form Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd). ‘Mac-Talla’ is Gaelic for ‘Echo’ and comprises three whiskies – Mara, Terra and Strata. Terra is a single malt from an undisclosed distillery based on Islay, aged in American oak casks and bottled at 46% abv. While Mara (Sea) was a nod to the Atlantic, Terra (Earth) reflects the smoky element so characteristic of island whisky (peat bogs cover around 90% of Islay).
Nose : peat smoke and sea breeze, damp hay and gravel, apples, cherries, bananas, nut shells, vanilla and a hint of oak.
Taste : peat-smoky, slightly mineral, sea salt, orange peel, apples, vanilla, a bit of marzipan, black pepper and a slight bitterness of oak.
Finish : medium long, peat smoke, vanilla, sea salt, pepper and delicate fruit and oak notes.
