Deanston 10-year-old Pedro Ximenez Finish / 57.5%/ 0.7l
- Deanston Distillery was founded in 1966 but its buildings go back to 1785 and originally hosted a cotton mill (the vaulted weaving shed has been serving as a warehouse).
Product description
Deanston Distillery began operation in 1966 after converting the buildings of an 18th-century cotton mill (its weaving mill was used for storage).
After a few years of relative success, the distillery ceased distilling in 1982 and only resumed it after being taken over by Burn Stewart Distillers in 1990. Equipped with two pairs of stills, the distillery can produce 3 million litres of distillate per year. Deanston is a key component of the Scottish Leader blend, which sells over 6 million bottles per year globally. The Deanston presented here is one of the company's most interesting offerings, a whisky finished for about 2 years in Pedro Ximénez sweet sherry casks and bottled at cask strength (56.4% abv) and without chill filtration.
