Heart of Speyside is the nickname of BenRiach Distillery; indeed, the distillery sits right in the heart of Speyside.
BenRiach Heart of Speyside was introduced in 2004, soon after Billy Walker and his partners acquired the distillery and remains an entry level expression to the diversified distillery portfolio. The whisky is a vatting of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks bottled at 40% without age statement. BenRiach Heart of Speyside scored more than few medals in its category, the most recent ones were Bronze and Silver at the 2017 and 2019 International Wine & Spirits Competition respectively.
Nose: fresh, malted barley, honey, vanilla, freshly baked apple pie, lemon peel, white pepper, hints of hay and oak.
Palate: smooth, breakfast cereals, vanilla, honey, apples, orange and lemon peel, white pepper, dash of cinnamon and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet cereals, apples, toasted oak and Christmas spices.
