Product description
Grand Old Parr whisky made its debut in the early 20th century in the offering of Greenlees Brothers, a family company that joined the ranks of whisky producers in 1870.
Its patron is Thomas Parr, who died in 1635 at the age of 152 (his remains lie in Westminster Cathedral to this day). Rumour has it that at the age of 100, Parr sired offspring and duly fulfilled the role of a parent. The key to the original blend formula were Glendullan, Aultmore and Cragganmore, as well as Caledonian and Cambus grain whiskies. The success of the Old Parr brand led to the acquisition of Glendullan Distillery in 1919, but seven years later the assets of the Greenlees brothers were transferred to the DCL group's portfolio. Old Parr whisky currently belongs to Diageo and is produced mainly for the American and Japanese markets. It is most popular in Colombia, where it has over 50% of the Scotch whisky market.
