Cortoisie is a somewhat mysterious brand of French single malt whisky (debuted in 2016).

Little is known about its producer, the whisky is distilled in Lorraine (north-eastern France) from malt with a phenol concentration of 35 ppm. Peat is imported from Germany, as French law does not allow the exploitation of peat bogs. About 80% of the distillate matures in French oak barrels (1/3 are new barrels), and the remaining 20% ​​in first-fill American oak barrels. The name whisky comes from the Old French "curtoise" and denotes politeness and courtesy.

Nose: sweet breakfast cereals, oatmeal cookies, red apples, plums, red currants, grapefruit, notes of pepper and peat smoke.

Taste: fresh and malty, slightly smoky, honeyed cereals, multi-berry jam, pepper, a pinch of cinnamon and salt.

Finish : medium long, with notes of breakfast cereal, red berries, black pepper, cedar and peat smoke.
