Product description
Glenfarclas The Family Casks collection was launched in 2007 and featured whiskies from the finest casks the distillery had in stock, bottled in its natural state.
The collection consisted of 43 bottles, each containing a different vintage of whisky, distilled between 1952 and 1994. The Family Casks was an absolutely unique edition, without parallel, offering a cross-section of the distillery’s 43 years of activity. The Glenfarclas 1981 presented here is a continuation of that ambitious project, part of the next stage of The Family Casks collection. Aged for around 37 years in a refill hogshead (no. 1085), the contents of which on 5th December 2016 amounted to 211 bottles of cask strength whisky (43.2% abv).
Nose: fruity and slightly waxy, ripe apples and pears, grapes, honey, toffee, lemon peel, green tea, fresh herbs, notes of dried mushrooms and oak.
Taste: perfectly balanced, baked apples and plums, orange peel, lemon grass, white pepper, milk fudge, marzipan, yeast cake and subtle oak-herbal bitterness.
Finish: long, with notes of herbal mix, white pepper, nectarines, chocolate orange peel, a touch of cinnamon and oak.
