The Polo Estancia Edition is the fourth installment in Royal Salute’s ultra-luxury Polo range.
In his latest creation Sandy Hyslop, Royal Salute master blender, pays homage to what is universally known as ‘the home of polo’ – Argentina. While polo was not born in Argentina (the game was played as early as 6th Century BC in Persia) today the destination is universally recognized as the mecca of the sport, home to the world’s most players and legendary Estancias. The Polo Estancia edition is a traditional Royal Salute 21 years old fully finished in the finest malbec casks. The casks were sourced from the award-winning producer in Cafayate, remote high altitude (1680 meters above sea level) Argentina’s most incredible wine towns. The whisky is endorsed by Malcolm Borwick, international polo player and Royal Salute World Polo Ambassador. (Sandy Hyslop’s tasting note.)
Nose: rich and fully overlaid with notes of raspberries and blackberries, reminiscent of a luxurious berry compote with a hint of sweet licorice.
Palate: rich and sweet with wonderful spicy cinnamon notes followed by plum jam and indulgent dark chocolate ginger sweets.
Finish: long and sweet, with slightly dark crescendo.
