According to Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich Master Distiller, the Grand Series is the company's manifesto, emphasizing its willingness to experiment and meet the expectations of 21st century consumers.
So far (spring 2021), four whiskies have been released: Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 years old French Cuvée Cask Finish, Glenfiddich Gran Reserva 21 years old Rum Cask Finish, Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 years old and Glenfiddich Gran Cortes XXII. The Glenfiddich Gran Reserva presented here spent over two decades in white American oak barrels, then finished for around 9 months in Cuban rum barrels. Glenfiddich is the permanent sales leader in the single malt category, with over 18 million bottles of this whisky sold in 2019, which was a 9% increase over the previous year.
Aroma : fruity-floral, pineapples, tangerines, bananas, lychees, nectarines, bouquet of garden flowers, vanilla pods, caramel, honey, notes of wax and cedar.
Palate: sweet and spicy, vanilla cream, caramel, white chocolate, oranges, ripe grapes, banana cake, cinnamon, candied ginger, white pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long, sweet, with notes of juicy fruit, vanilla, crème brûlée, cinnamon and oak.
