Product description
Cardenal Mendoza Brandy is a product of Bodegas Sánchez Romate, founded in 1781 by Juan Sánchezq de la Torre and one of a handful of companies in Jerez remaining family-owned.
In 1877, the Sánchez Romate family began producing brandy for their own use. The drink quickly gained an excellent reputation and was sold to the general public as Cardenal Mendoza brandy. Its patron, Cardinal Don Pedro Gozález de Mendoza (1423-1495), was a great personality of 15th-century Spain, advisor to King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I. Cardenal Mendoza Clásico is distilled in a pot still from Airén grapes from the La Mancha region and aged using the solera system in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels for about 15 years. A brandy glass is added to the bottle.
Nose : caramel, milk chocolate, sweet sherry, dried plums, orange peel, cinnamon buns, notes of pepper, vanilla and oak.
Palate: sherry, chocolate hazelnuts, caramel, raisins and sultanas, dried figs, mocha, vanilla and a mixture of dried herbs.
Finish: medium long, with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, roasted nuts, herbs, oak and sherry.
