Product description
La Licorera Cihuatán was founded in 2004 as a division of Ingenio La Cabaña, a sugar producer. The distillery is located in El Paisnal, El Salvador, and takes its name from an ancient Mayan settlement.
The company began producing its first rum in El Salvador, which debuted on international markets in 2015. The rum is made from molasses, which is supplied by the parent company Ingenio La Cabaña. The rum is distilled in column stills and matured primarily in oak bourbon barrels.
Cihuatán Sahumerio Rum is a limited edition blended from heavy and light distillates, aged for 12 to 14 years in American bourbon oak barrels. Its name refers to the Sahumerio vessels used by the ancient Maya to keep a flame burning in honor of the goddess Chantico, patroness of love.
