Bowmore 1989, 30-year-old Smoked Rosemary, Wemyss Malts / 46%/ 0.7l
- Wemyss is the Lowland family directly descended from the Celtic nobility through the Macduff Earls of Fife.
Product description
Wemyss Vintage Malts was founded in 2005 by William Wemyss, who owns vineyards in Australia and Provence, tea plantations in Kenya and Kingsbarns Distillery in the Lowlands.
The Wemyss family is one of the most distinguished families in the region, related to Lord Macduff, ruler of Fife. Wemyss Malts uses an unconventional marketing strategy, using names for their whisky editions that reflect their aromatic and flavour profiles. The Bowmore presented here, described as “Smoky Rosemary”, was distilled in 1989 and aged in a hogshead for over three decades. Bottled at 46% abv in 2020 in an edition of 184 bottles. (Producer’s note)
Aroma: mild and tempting, a hint of smoldering dried herbs, especially rosemary, saffron custard, freshly baked shortcrust pastry and subtle notes of seafood.
Taste : rosemary returns accompanied by white and red pepper, vanilla cream, barbecue sauce, sweet cream with raspberries and the traditional Scottish "Edinburgh Rock".
Finish: the smoky finish, like a smoldering beach bonfire, lingers in the mouth for long minutes, an unforgettable impression.
