Product description
Writer's Tears, the creation of Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, debuted in 2009, shortly after the success of The Irishman whiskey.
Initially, the Walshes operated as Independent Bottlers, and in 2016 they began distilling in their own distillery in Royal Oak. Their partner was the Italian Illva Saronno, but after three years their paths diverged and the distillery remained in the hands of the Italians. Writer's Tears Double Oak, created in cooperation with the Legaret family (producers of Deau cognac), joined the offer in the spring of 2019. It is a blend of single malt and single pot still whiskeys, matured in bourbon barrels (American oak) and cognac barrels (French oak). Writer's Tears was the only Irish whiskey listed in the top ten in the "Whisky Advocate" magazine's 2019 poll.
