Laphroaig Port Wood Finish / 48% / 0.7l
- Laphroaig is by far the best selling Islay malt with close to four million bottles sold annually worldwide (2019).
Product description
With annual sales of almost 4 million bottles (2019), Laphroaig is Islay's most popular single malt.
The distillery produces its own malt, although its own malting house covers only 15% of demand, with the remaining 85% supplied by Port Ellen Maltings. The grain malted on site has a phenol concentration of up to 60 ppm, while that contracted at Port Ellen's malting house ranges from 35 to 45 ppm. Laphroaig whisky enjoys an equally strong position in the Travel Retail chain, where the editions offered are created exclusively for this sector. One of them is the Port Wood Finish presented here, a whisky aged in American oak barrels and finished in Ruby port barrels. A similar version debuted in 2012 as Laphroaig Brodir.
