Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon established a reputation as a great selector and publisher of whiskies. His portfolio includes several series, including Whisky Castle (discontinued in 2013), Old Passenger Ships, Prenzlow Portfolio Collecton, Great Ocean Liners and Wanted (the latter reserved for Bowmore single malt). The Glen Elgin on display here, distilled in 2007, spent 11 years in cask no. 3800320. It was bottled at 57.6% abv in the Auld Distillers Collecton in an edition of just 161 bottles.
Nose: damp chalk, freshly cut grass, green apples, pears, gooseberries, vanilla, milk fudge, roasted sunflower seeds and a light oak note.
Palate : sweet breakfast cereals, vanilla, honey, pralines, apples, greengages, green melon, lemongrass, a touch of white pepper, notes of fennel and oak
Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla, honey, summer fruits, lemon peel, a touch of pepper, hay and oak.
