Product description
Okinawa-based Masahiro Distillery began operation in 1883, founded by Shobun Higa.
His father, Shozoku Higa, was the master chef of the ruler of the Ryukyu Kingdom and, thanks to his connections, obtained a license to produce the traditional Okinawan spirit, distilled from awamori rice. In 2018, Masayasu Higa, a representative of the eighth generation of the family, developed the formula for Okinawa gin, with which he achieved considerable success. Another product of the company is the Masahiro Pure Malt whisky presented here. Little is known about its formula, it is a blend of distillates aged in sherry casks and refill barrels for at least three years, finished in fresh Jack Daniel's whiskey barrels for another six months.
Nose: mild, citrus, pineapples, bananas, cantaloupe, nectarines, vanilla cream, honey, notes of candied ginger and oak.
Palate: light and sweet, vanilla, maple syrup, white peaches, pineapples, sultanas, notes of coconut flakes and candied ginger and a subtle bitterness of oak.
Finish: quite short, with notes of citrus, vanilla, brown sugar, a touch of sweet spice and oak.
