Penderyn Distillery began production in 2000 as the first Welsh distillery in over a hundred years.
The local single malt debuted four years later and enjoyed unprecedented success. In 2013-2014, the plant underwent a costly expansion that cost a million pounds and increased its production capacity from 90 to 300 thousand liters of distillate per year. In 2020, Penderyn offered two interesting cask strength editions, Tawny Port Single Cask and Moscatel Wine Finish. The latter, after basic maturation in bourbon barrels, was finished in barrels of sweet Portuguese Moscatel. The edition consisted of 1,456 bottles.
