The Don Papa brand name is a tribute to a historical figure who fought for the liberation of the Philippines from Spanish rule in the late 19th century, Dionisio Magbuelas, commonly known as Papa Isio.

The brand was created by Stephen Carroll for the Bleeding Heart Company. It bills itself as the world's first single island rum from the Philippines.

Don Papa Rye Aged is a rum matured for 4 years in American oak barrels that previously held American rye whiskey. Offered at 45% ABV.

Aroma : Fruity with accents of spices straight from rye whiskey, notes of fruit.

Palate: Rich, dry and silky, with notes of sandalwood, apricot, cocoa and chocolate.

Finish: Long, dry, with cocoa notes.
