Silvano Samaroli began his career in the whisky market in 1968 and immediately focused on single cask editions. In 2008, Samaroli left the management of the company in the hands of Antonio Bleve, but he himself played an active role until his death in February 2017. The Samaroli brand remains one of the aces of the market, highly valued by collectors, and the barrels are currently selected by Antonio Bleve and Francesco Saverio Binetti. The Port Ellen 1975 presented here is a whisky aged for 23 years in traditional oak barrels and bottled in 1998 at 45% abv, in a limited edition of 744 bottles.
Nose: barley malt and peat smoke, sweet breakfast cereals, green apples, pears, sea breeze and seaweed, pine needles, mint leaf and a pinch of pepper.
Palate: smoke and ashes, seaweed salad, apples, gooseberries, traces of pine resin, lemongrass, white pepper, notes of vanilla, marzipan and oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of orange and lemon peel, lemongrass, white pepper, a touch of vanilla and peat smoke.
