- Jura Distillery was built on the namesake island in 1810 but its early history could hardly be called a success.
Product description
Jura Distillery, built in 1810 on the island with which it shares its name, is a distillery whose early years saw a wave of failures, but the last decade saw nothing but splendor.
In 1901, the distilling equipment was removed from the plant, and it was not returned there until 60 years later. Jura 10 years old has been part of the distillery's core offer for about 40 years. The bottle presented here dates back to the end of the last century and contains Jura from the "old school" - whisky aged in barrels made of white American oak. Today, Jura is the third best-selling single malt in the British Isles (behind Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie), and its global sales exceed 2 million bottles per year. The distillery is equipped with two pairs of stills and produces about 2.4 million liters of distillate per year.
