Product description
Cañero Essential Rums is a brand that was launched in 2020 and fully replaced the previous Summum brand, owned by Oliver & Oliver.
The graphic design and shape of the bottles have been preserved. The history of Oliver & Oliver rums dates back to the 19th century, when a certain Oliver Juanillo established a sugar cane and tobacco plantation in Cuba. Shortly afterwards, a rum factory was also launched, which operated until 1959, i.e. until the end of the Cuban revolution. The founders of the Oliver & Oliver distillery, as the distillery was called, were forced to emigrate. Eventually, they settled in the Dominican Republic, where they found excellent conditions to continue their distilling business. The new Oliver & Oliver distillery produces a wide range of rums, using traditional copper stills and pure sugar cane syrup. Cañero rums are blends of high-class spirits produced in the Dominican Republic, carefully matured in specially selected oak barrels. Cañero rums are often subjected to additional maturation in barrels from spirits other than standard bourbon barrels.
Cañero Sauternes Cask Finish Rum matured for an average of 12 years in American bourbon barrels using the solera system. For the final 9 months of maturation, it was transferred to barrels from the French sweet wine Sauternes from Chateau d'Arches.
