Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon established a reputation as a great whisky selector and publisher. His portfolio includes several series, including Whisky Castle (discontinued in 2013), Old Passenger Ships, Prenzlow Portfolio Collecton, Great Ocean Liners and Wanted (the latter reserved for Bowmore single malt). This Croftengea, distilled in 2007 at the Loch Lomond Distillery, was aged in bourbon cask no. 251 for over 12 years. Bottled at 55% abv in 2020 as part of the Old Passenger Ships series, in an edition of just 169 bottles.
Nose: fresh, fruity, barley malt, apples, pears, bananas, vanilla, milk fudge, damp hay and a hint of peat smoke in the background.
Palate: slightly smoky, sweet breakfast cereals, vanilla cream, apples, grapes, honeydew melon, lemongrass, a touch of pepper and anise.
Finish: medium long, fruity and peaty, with notes of citrus peel, vanilla, toffee, a touch of spices and oak.
