Product description
Most, if not all, whisky festivals planned for 2020 have been cancelled due to COVID-19 and Fèis Ìle was no exception.
Distilleries organized meetings and tastings on designated “online” days. Bunnahabhain, in addition to two occasional festival editions – 2002 Madeira Finish and 2010 Mòine Amontillado Finish – prepared something absolutely unique. Spiorad an Dòchaig, in Gaelic “Spirit of Hope”, is a whisky distilled on December 15, 1989, aged for 25 years in an Oloroso pop sherry cask and finished for another five years in a so-called virgin oak cask. This unusual finish was intended to reduce the influence of sherry on the aromatic and flavor palette, while enriching it with spicy and nutty notes. The edition consisted of only 200 bottles.
Nose : rich and elegant, salted caramel, honey, dried plums, blackberries, black cherries, rum-soaked raisins, roasted almonds, nutmeg, notes of pepper, wax and oak.
Palate: rich, fruity, dried plums and figs, cranberries for meat, red apples, dark chocolate, raisins, hazelnuts, licorice, cinnamon, a touch of cloves and anise and some oak.
Finish : long and complex, with notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, spices, sherry and oak.
