Product description
Serum rums debuted in 2018. The brand was created by the Czech company Kratochvilovci, but this is where the ties to Central Europe end. Serum is a rum from Panama, produced and matured there.
And since it's from Panama, it's close to the first and greatest inspiration for the creators of Serum rums, namely the Panama Canal, an 82-kilometer waterway connecting the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean, opened in 1914. The name of the rum refers to the times of the Canal's construction, when rum, often with one or another additive, was used as a cure for all kinds of ailments. As such, it was often referred to as "serum". Currently, rum is made on the basis of so-called cane honey, is subjected to a single, extremely precise distillation in a column still, and then matures in oak barrels after American bourbon.
The Serum Ancon rum was named after the SS Ancon, the first ship to sail through the Panama Canal on August 15, 1914, officially inaugurating the crossing. It is a rum aged for 10 years in American bourbon oak barrels.
