Product description
In December 2016, Bowmore Distillery, the oldest distillery on Islay (founded in 1779), launched the Vaults Series, perhaps the most prestigious series in Scotch whisky history. It consists of whiskies distilled in the 1960s that spent at least part of their maturation in the stone No. 1 Vaults, the famously oldest warehouse used for maturing whiskies, located partly below sea level. The
Bowmore 1965 presented here was released in November 2018 in an edition of 232 bottles, the fourth edition of the series. The whisky was distilled just after the installation of new steam-heated stills and matured for 52 years in an Oloroso sherry cask. In the opinion of David Turner, distillery manager, this whisky is the epitome of Bowmore single malt distilling and maturing. (Official tasting note.)
