Product description
The Wemyss family has been more involved in winemaking than in whisky production, however in 1824 they allowed John Haig to build Cameron Bridge Distillery on their land.
Wemyss Malts was founded in 2005 and greatly expanded within the next decade as an Independent Bottler (in 2014 the Wemyss family founded Kingsbarns Distillery in Fife). The company uses the aromas and tastes of the individual whiskies to identify each expression. The Hive is a blend of 16 single malts sourced mainly from Speyside and Highlands with emphasis on honey, toffee and cinnamon. The formula of The Hive remains the secret of its creator; unofficially we were told that its main component is Glen Ord. The Hive scored silver medal at the 2018 International Wine & Spirits Competition. In the fall of 2020, the Wemyss Malts core range has been given a bold and colorful new look; the whisky however remains the same.
