Product description
The history of Varela Hermanos SA and Abuelo rum dates back to 1908, when Spanish immigrant Don José Varela Blanco opened the first San Isidro sugar mill in the Panamanian town of Pesé.
Alcohol distillation from fermented sugar cane juice began there in 1936. The Abuelo brand appeared in 1976, with the installation of a modern alcohol production line, including a system of stainless steel rectification columns. Today, Varela Hermanos SA is one of the leading alcohol producers in Panama. It is one of the few that cultivates its own sugar cane.
Abuelo Añejo 7 Años rum is a blend of rums matured in oak barrels for 7 years, then carefully blended. One of the three basic editions of Abuelo rum. In its bouquet, we will find accents of roasted hazelnuts, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, spices, a bit of herbalism, a touch of tobacco leaves.
