In the late 2019 Dalmore Distillery announced the new range of whiskies exclusively for Travel Retail, which showcases “the distillery’s unbroken vision to pioneering exquisite cask curation”.
The Dalmore is currently the number five single malt whisky by volume in Global Travel Retail, with its value increasing by 950% between 2010 and 2018. The three new expressions – The Trio, The Quartet and The Quintet – feature a three-cask, four-cask and five-cask finish respectively and are inspired by iconic Dalmore King Alexander III (six-cask finish). The Quintet has been finished in rare Muscatel casks, Malmsley Madeira casks, 30 year old Matusalem sherry casks, 10 years old Port casks and Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon casks.
Nose: homemade mixed berries marmalade, Napoleon cake, plums, toffee, honey, hazelnuts, candied orange peel and dash of cinnamon.
Palate: rich, nectarines, grilled pineapple, honey-roasted nuts, milk chocolate, toffee, mango, coconut shavings, nutmeg and a touch of oak.
Finish: fairly long, with note of maple syrup, milk chocolate, roasted nuts and almonds and dash of sweet spice.
