Product description
Moon Harbor Distillery is based in Bordeaux and is the only whisky producer in a region renowned for its top-class wines.
Built in 2016 by Yves Medina and Philippe Ballanger, it began operations in September 2017. The facility is located on the site of a former submarine base built by the Germans during World War II. The massive bunker, originally intended for storing fuel, now serves as a warehouse for maturing whisky. In order to promote the brand and maintain liquidity, the company has released several blends put together with the help of master distiller and blender John McDougal. While Pier 1 was a blend of malt and grain whisky finished in Sauternes barrels, Pier 2 is a blended malt that spent its final maturation period in red Bordeaux barrels from Château la Louvière.
