Product description
The small Caribbean island of Trinidad once boasted as many as 50 rum factories.
The Caroni Distillery was founded in 1918 on the site of an old sugar mill. The distillery operated both traditional stills and column stills, and the rum produced there was heavy, just right for supplying the British Navy. In 2001, the distillery was sold to Angostura and closed for good a year later. Caroni rum was given a second life by Luca Gargano's visit to Trinidad in 2004, when he discovered a forgotten warehouse of barrel-aged rum.
Caroni 2000 Basdeo Dicky Ramsarran is the fourth edition of Caroni rum in the series dedicated to the employees of this legendary distillery. Rum matured for 20 years in American bourbon oak barrels, in the tropical climate of Trinidad. Compiled from the contents of 6 barrels, bottled in its natural form - without coloring, without cold filtering, without additives, without dilution. Dedicated to Basdeo Ramsarran, called Dicky, who worked at Caroni for 20 years.
