Product description
The Epicurean debuted in 2016. It represents the Lowlands region in Douglas Laing & Co.’s Remarkable Regional Malts Collection.
The name of the whisky evokes the memory of a charismatic gentleman from Glasgow famous for his dislike of empty glasses and love of fun, the soul of the 1930s high society. The 12-year-old version presented here was launched in 2020 as the first "Epicurean" offered with an age statement. We do not know the formula for this whisky, but 12 years ago there were only three malt distilleries in the Lowlands - Auchentoshan, Glenkinchie and Bladnoch. All Douglas Laing & Co. whiskies are bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration.
Nose: spring meadow, malted barley, roasted peanuts, candied citrus peel, honeydew melon, vanilla, buttered toast and a handful of garden herbs.
Taste : fruity with a subtle spiciness, pears, nectarines, gooseberries, lemongrass, honey, vanilla, white pepper, notes of cumin and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of ripe summer fruits, coconut flakes, brown sugar, white pepper, oak and fresh herbs.
