Product description
The Balvenie DCS Compendium is a collection of limited edition Balvenie single malts compiled by David Stewart, the distillery's fifth and longest-serving Malt Master.
He selected 25 barrels, which, divided into five series, sum up his career at Balvenie. The opening chapter of the collection, “Distillery Style,” debuted in 2015; it closed four years later with “Malt Master Indulgence.” Balvenie 1999 is part of the fourth series, “Expect Unexpected,” which takes a radical departure from the distillery’s style. “Each of the five whiskies in the series exhibits characteristics that we cannot explain by the type of barrel used for maturation or its length.” Distilled on July 1, 1999, the whisky on display here spent more than 18 years in a refill hogshead cask, No. 9304 (American oak). As of May 4, 2018, its contents amounted to 132 bottles. As Mr Stewart stated, “1999 was a special year for me as it marked my 25th anniversary as Balvenie Malt Master.” (Creator’s Note)
