Hepburn's Choice is a line of whiskies from the Langside Distillers portfolio, founded in 1948 and now a subsidiary of Hunter Laing & Company.
Its patron is William Hepburn, the maternal grandfather of the Laing brothers, a diplomat and a great whisky connoisseur. Hepburn's Choice whiskies come from single casks, are bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration and with a natural colour. The Glen Moray presented here, distilled in 2007, spent over 12 years in a refilled hogshead cask, and was bottled in 2019 in an edition of 168 bottles. Glen Moray Distillery, based in Speyside, is owned by the French company La Martiniquaise and produces around 5.7 million litres of distillate per year.
Aroma: barley malt, caramel, vanilla, sponge cake, apples, pears, a handful of fresh herbs, a touch of white pepper and oak.
Palate: mild, vanilla, honey, caramel, cocoa, pears, cherries, sweet bread, fresh herbs, a pinch of cinnamon and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, toasted grain, toffee, summer fruits and oak.
