Gouden Carolus Sherry Oak / 46% / 0.5l
- Gouden Carolus single malt is a brainchild of Charles Leclef, the owner of Brouwerij Het Anker.
Product description
Gouden Carolus whisky debuted in 2008 in the offering of Charles Leclef, owner of the Het Anker brewery in Belgium.
Leclef used the mash used to make Gouden Carolus Tripel Beer, excluding the hops from the formula. His whisky was very well received and two years later he built a new distillery on the Molenberg family estate in Blaasfeld. The whisky is distilled in traditional copper stills and aged for around 30 months in fresh bourbon barrels, before being aged for at least 6 months in so-called Anker casks (reconditioned and re-fired barrels). The Gouden Carolus Sherry Oak presented here is finished in American Oloroso sherry oak barrels.
