Product description
Rock Island debuted in the fall of 2018 in the distinguished series from Douglas Laing & Co.
Remarkable Regional Malts replacing the previous representative of the Scottish islands, Rock Oyster (allegedly some consumers were put off by the word "oyster" in the name). Rock Island is a blend of single malts from the islands of Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney. The other regions are represented by: Timorous Beastie (Highlands), Scallywag (Speyside), Big Peat (Islay), The Epicurean (Lowlands) and The Gauldrons (Campbeltown). In August 2020, the company offered a limited edition Rock Island Sherry Edition, finished in Oloroso sherry casks. 3,000 bottles went on sale.
Aroma: grilled pork neck, sea breeze, caramel, vanilla, honey, raisins, a pinch of black pepper, traces of tobacco and oak.
Palate: slightly smoky, vanilla, caramel, sea salt pretzels, smoked bacon, prunes, nutmeg, allspice, burnt toast, hints of sherry and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of salted caramel, mocha, dark chocolate, cinnamon, allspice and peat smoke in the background.
