Whiskey Hinch debuted in 2019 as part of the Hinch Distillery Company range. The company plans to open its own distillery in November 2020, based at the Killaney Estate in Ballynahinch, south of Belfast.
Hinch Distillery was founded by Dr Terry Ross, a businessman and OBE, current chairman of the Northern Ireland Red Cross. The Hinch brand includes five whiskeys, including single malt, single pot still and blended, and Ninth Wave gin. The Hinch Double Wood is a blended whiskey made from 80% single grain and 20% single malt, aged for four years in ex-bourbon casks and finished for at least one year in virgin American oak casks.
Nose: sweet and creamy, vanilla, toffee, lemon jam, apples, pineapples, sweet bread, cinnamon and a hint of tobacco.
Palate : vanilla pudding, apples, grapefruit, banana cake, white pepper, a pinch of cinnamon and a hint of sandalwood.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, citrus, brown sugar, pepper and a delicate bitterness of oak.
