Bayou Rum is a product of the American distillery Louisiana Spirits, located somewhere halfway between Houston and New Orleans, in the U.S. state of Louisiana.
It is made from locally grown sugar cane, or rather from cane molasses produced in the oldest sugar mill in the US. It is distilled twice in traditional pot stills and matured mostly in ex-bourbon barrels, in the solera system, and bottled on site, at the distillery. It is often referred to as rum for bourbon lovers.
The Select Edition is released in small batches, each of which may differ slightly from the others. In the bouquet of Bayou Select we will find a lot of sweetness, caramel and oak. In the taste, in addition to caramel, we will find notes of eucalyptus, cinnamon, maple syrup and spices.
