Based in Alness in the northern Highlands, Dalmore Distillery has been producing whisky since 1839.
Its current distillation capacity exceeds 4 million liters of alcohol per year, a large part of which goes to blends from the Whyte & Mackay portfolio, the owner of Dalmore, which since 2014 has been owned by the Philippine Emperador Inc. In 2015, sales of Dalmore single malt exceeded the magical number of one million bottles for the first time. The man responsible for this success is undoubtedly the Whyte & Mackay blender Richard Paterson, a true maestro of finishing maturation. The Dalmore 1981 Amoroso Sherry Finesse edition presented here, one of the master's illustrious works, consisted of just 484 bottles.
"Distilled on 24th November 1981 (still malting barley on site), this whisky was aged for 26 years in ex-bourbon casks before being finished intensively in ex-Amoroso sherry casks from the famous Gonzalez Byass bodega. Dalmore Amoroso Finesse combines notes of almond, citrus and wild berries with hints of black cherries, plums and tangerines. The period spent in the ex-Amoroso sherry cask also brought out subtle spicy notes in the whisky, making it a very complex spirit."
