Product description
“The Edge of Burnhead Wood” is the fourth part of the “Balvenie Stories Collection” series launched in spring 2019.
The latest edition tells the story of how the distillery’s staff set out to achieve the optimum balance between barley and heather. The whisky presented here was produced using only its own raw materials – barley harvested from its own fields and malted in its own malthouse, water from Wm Grant & Sons’ Robbie Dhub spring in the Conval Hills, and heather from the adjacent Burnhead Wood. The latter, after drying, was added to the kiln and used in the malting process. Balvenie The Edge of Burnhead Wood has been aged for almost two decades and bottled at 48.7% abv in May 2020. (Producer’s tasting note.)
Aroma: fresh and crisp, with notes of fig and geranium oil perfectly balanced with fresh herbs and the breath of leafy forest.
Taste : honey, cloves and caramelized dates combined with a subtle hint of citrus and spices; the sweetness hides a delicate bitterness of oak.
Finish: long, with notes of oak and dried flowers.
